UCWEP President Hasan Taşkın: “We Strengthen Our Collaborations to Contribute to COP16 Goals”
In the last week of COP16 held in Riyadh, comprehensive cooperation protocols were signed between UCWEP, which is a Delegation under the name UCWEP, and non-governmental organizations participating as delegations from 30 African countries. Council President Hasan Taşkın emphasized that the main purpose of these collaborations is to contribute to the goals of COP16.
“Our Priority is to Contribute to Environmental and Social Transformation”
Hasan Taşkın pointed out the importance of cooperation to achieve desertification, drought and sustainable development goals, which are the main themes of COP16, and said:
“These signatures are not only formalizing our cooperation, but also an indication of our determination to make concrete contributions to the global goals of COP16. We aim to raise awareness and mobilize societies by using the power of media and communication in solving environmental problems.”
“We Are Building Strong Bridges Between Africa and Türkiye with the Media Role”
Taşkın stated that a long-term cooperation mechanism was established with non-governmental organizations in Africa with the signed protocols:
“With these agreements, we will develop joint projects in areas such as agricultural development, artificial intelligence, social media literacy, especially combating desertification, drought and climate change. The aim is to produce innovative solutions that will support sustainable development and strengthen global solidarity.”
“We will continue to make concrete contributions to COP16 Goals”
Providing information about the content of the signed protocols, Taşkın expressed the role of UCWEP in this process with the following words:
“Media has a critical role in raising awareness and developing solutions in the fight against environmental problems. With these partnerships established at COP16, we aim to contribute more strongly to global goals. We will continue to be a part of environmental and social transformation by using the information and cooperation power of the media more effectively.”
“We Are Aware of Our Responsibility”
Hasan Taşkın stated that UCWEP will develop projects to increase social awareness through the media, in parallel with the vision of COP16:
“These collaborations are an important step not only in combating environmental problems, but also in supporting economic and social development. As UCWEP, we are aware of our responsibility to achieve the goals of COP16 and we are moving forward on this path with determination.”
Taşkın concluded his statement with the words, “This process, which started with COP16, is a big step towards a more livable and sustainable future. As UCWEP, we will continue to contribute to these goals.”
