Hasan Taşkın joins the Business for Land initiative at COP16 in Riyadh

Hasan Taşkın, President of the Union of the World Electronic Press Council (UCWEP), signed his support for the Business for Land (B4L) call. This initiative aims to restore 1.5 billion hectares of land and increase drought resilience by 2030, in line with the United Nations (UN) Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

Scope of Signature:

The commitment signed by Hasan Taşkın includes the following three basic pillars of the Business for Land initiative:

1. Business Operations and Value Chains:

Assessing impacts, dependencies and risks of organizations involved in land, water and soil management.

Developing strategies to reduce land degradation and depletion of water resources during activities.

Transparently reporting progress on meeting targets and sharing data with UNCCD.

2. Financing:

Providing financial support for sustainable land, soil and water management projects.

Developing financial solutions that prioritize land and water restoration.

Assistance to community-oriented land projects, especially in areas at risk of degradation.

3. Advocacy and Collaboration:

Conducting lobbying activities to establish appropriate policies for sustainable land management.

Sharing best practices and encouraging innovation by participating in multi-stakeholder dialogues.

Collaborating with governments, civil society and the private sector at UNCCD COPs and international platforms.

In Hasan Taşkın’s statement after the Faith, he included the following views:

“By signing this initiative, he emphasized the need to increase the contribution of the media and business world to environmental sustainability. Taşkın said, “Protection of land and water resources is not only an environmental priority, but also an economic and social obligation. As UCWEP, we are determined to do our part in this regard.”

This step demonstrates Hasan Taşkın and UCWEP’s (UCWEP) commitment to environmental sustainability and combating desertification and lays the groundwork for broader collaborations around the world.
