Attacks on journalists and civilians in Gaza: “This is genocide”

UCWEP President Hasan Taşkın: “These Attacks Against Press Freedom and Humanity Must Be Stopped Immediately

UCWEP President Hasan Taşkın made a harsh statement regarding the targeting of journalists, children, women and civilians in the bombardments in Gaza. Taşkın emphasized that the purpose of the attacks was to “obscure the truth” and described this situation as “genocide”.

Intensive Attacks on Press and Civil Freedom in Gaza

It was reported that more than 160 journalists died as civilian settlements were targeted during Israel’s operations in Gaza. Taşkın stated that the killing of journalists was a clear attack on the right of societies to be accurately informed and emphasized that this was a violation of international law. Taşkın expressed his reaction by saying, “These attacks target not only journalists, but also freedom of expression and humanity.”

Journalists are the Voice and Witness of Society

Taşkın reminded that journalists are the voice of society and the witness of history, and said that this attack on freedom of expression is unacceptable. Stating that journalists should be protected even in war zones, Taşkın called for “These attacks against press freedom and humanity should be stopped immediately.”

Call to the International Community and Pledge of Solidarity

UCWEP President Taşkın called on the international community and human rights organizations to take action and stated that they will fight to ensure that these events are not forgotten and those responsible are held accountable. Emphasizing that UCWEP will stand by journalists, Taşkın called on all nations for peace and respect for human rights.
